Years of teaching experience laid a solid foundation in civil engineering theory, while instilling in him the pragmatic belief that "no blueprint data is as reliable as the raw earth on-site." He resolutely transitioned from academia to frontline engineering practice, seeking solutions to industry challenges through hands-on experience. From honing skills at renowned construction firms to building his own ventures, his travels have spanned China's vast territories—from Hong Kong to Beijing and Changsha. Attending industry summits and visiting construction sites have become routine, yet what he values most remains his profound identity as a "medical architect" in the field.
在长期的一线实践中，罗刚敏锐发现，传统建筑服务领域中，检测鉴定、加固设计、施工环节“各自为战”，形成碎片化服务格局，不仅效率低下、成本攀升，更留下诸多安全隐患，如同对“患病”建筑“头痛医头、脚痛医脚”，难以从根源上解决问题。2015年，罗刚联合业内专家，在论文《论检测鉴定、加固设计、加固施工一体化的未来“建筑医院”》中，首次正式提出“建筑医院”这一创新性概念，将建筑的维护修复类比于人类医疗保健，构建“检测-诊断-治疗-康复”的全闭环服务体系，为建筑行业健康发展开辟了全新路径。Through years of frontline practice, Luo Gang keenly observed that traditional architectural services were fragmented, with inspection and evaluation, reinforcement design, and construction phases operating in isolation. This disjointed approach not only led to inefficiency and rising costs but also created numerous safety hazards—akin to treating symptoms rather than root causes in "sick" buildings. In 2015, Luo Gang collaborated with industry experts to formally introduce the innovative concept of "Building Hospitals" in their paper "On the Future of Integrated Building Services: Inspection-Evaluation-Reinforcement Design-Reinforcement Construction." By likening building maintenance to human healthcare, this framework establishes a closed-loop service system encompassing inspection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation, paving a new path for sustainable development in the construction industry.
作为“建筑医院”理念的核心推动者，罗刚依托湖南湖大土木建筑工程检测有限公司的技术优势，搭建起完善的服务架构，设立检测鉴定部、加固设计部、加固施工部等核心部门，各环节协同联动，确保服务的专业性与高效性。检测鉴定部作为“龙头”，凭借权威资质与精准仪器，为建筑出具科学的“体检报告”；加固设计部量身定制安全经济的“诊疗方案”，经专家评审后作为施工依据；加固施工部严格按照方案施工，重点保障特殊工程的施工安全，用精湛工艺为建筑“治病强身”。As a key advocate of the "Architectural Hospital" concept, Luo Gang leveraged the technical expertise of Hunan Huda Civil Engineering Construction Testing Co., Ltd. to establish a comprehensive service framework. Core departments including Testing & Appraisal Division, Reinforcement Design Division, and Reinforcement Construction Division were set up to ensure seamless coordination across all stages, guaranteeing professional and efficient services. The Testing & Appraisal Division, serving as the "core unit," delivers scientific "health check reports" for buildings through authoritative certifications and precision instruments. The Reinforcement Design Division develops customized, safe, and cost-effective "treatment plans" that undergo expert review before becoming construction guidelines. The Reinforcement Construction Division strictly adheres to these plans, prioritizing safety in specialized projects while employing advanced techniques to "treat and strengthen" buildings.

To date, Luo Gang and his team have completed over a thousand building reinforcement projects spanning multiple fields including structural alignment correction, fire engineering reinforcement, and ancient building preservation. Each successful case demonstrates the scientific rigor and practical effectiveness of the "Architectural Hospital" model. In an old residential community in Hunan Province, a residential building tilted due to foundation settlement, causing residents 'constant anxiety. Through precise detection, Luo Gang's team identified the root cause and employed advanced alignment correction technology to restore structural integrity, earning praise from homeowners as "architectural healers who saved endangered buildings." During the restoration of Yuxiang Textile Factory—a historically protected structure—they adhered to the "minimal intervention" principle, preserving architectural heritage while enhancing structural safety to breathe new life into the historic building. In a large commercial complex renovation project, the team successfully implemented structural reinforcement and spatial optimization without disrupting normal operations, achieving dual improvements in functionality and safety.

By deploying sensors at critical building locations, the system functions like an "intelligent ECG" for structures, enabling 24/7 real-time monitoring and shifting building safety management from "post-incident response" to "pre-incident prevention."
